And a potholder for a friend...

potholder for M

Also finished another potholder in the same colors, but stripey. I'm not sure if I will keep it, or give it to my mom.

Edited to add: I gave it to Mom. :)

I finished this little hat for my 1-year-old niece (she just turned 1 today!) a few days ago. It's so cute. It was supposed to have a ruffle at the bottom, but I couldn't figure out how to do it from the pattern (another pattern from Lion's web site).

Edited to add: It's now 4/15/07, and I still hope to figure out a way to make the ruffle. Haven't seen my niece for quite a while, and I don't know when I will--seems that whenever I'm not sick, my sister's whole family is--so I've got some time to work on it. Besides, it's definitely NOT sun hat weather yet!

My pom-pom hat!

Then, I made myself a "Pom-pom Hat" using a pattern from the Lion Yarn web site. It looks pretty silly on. Suits me just fine--I am pretty (er, make that very) silly! One of these days, my fiance will take a picture of me wearing this hat and my snuggly scarf. I think I'll wait for it to get cold again before we try that, though. (Or I'll wait till I have A/C in my apartment...)

I made these hoop earrings in single crochet with Lily Sugar N Cream yarn. Not bad for a first try. I expect I'll be making more of these!

My "Snuggly Scarf"

After I finished making this very same scarf in a different color for my friend J, I made one for myself. This time, the color I used was Candy Apple. I love it!

My first crochet projects...

Time to post some projects in chronological order. ;) Here's the first project I ever made, a potholder. Very exciting, I know. (Well, it is useful!) I made it with Peaches & Creme cotton yarn.

Next project: a scarf for myself. I really wanted to make a scarf for my friend J, but I was having trouble and knew I needed to try making one as a "rough draft" with the pattern I wanted to use (the fabulous Snuggly Scarf pattern!). Good thing I did, 'cause I screwed it up! It still looks pretty, though; it's just a little less snuggly than it's supposed to be.

the less snuggly "Snuggly Scarf"

Made with Lion Homespun yarn, in Tudor. Here's another pic:

Velvet the hippo and her new blanket

While I was working on the scarves I was making, I sometimes kept them in Velvet's basket. At night, she would use them as blankets. When I finished the scarves, poor Velvet had no blanket! I had to remedy that (and besides, I had some leftover Lion Homespun in Tudor from another project). ;)

I'm not silly or anything... :D

First post!

I'm always checking out others' crochet blogs, so I've decided to give it a go myself. I'm a novice at crochet; so far, my finished projects are a potholder and 3 scarves (all 3 worked from the same pattern, and the first one came out wrong! oops). ;)

WIP:
Pics to be posted when things are done. I'll also post pictures of my current finished projects when I can get good pictures, which should be soon, since I'm borrowing my mom's digital camera. ;) (I'm getting my own soon--YAY!)

Things I want to make:
  • A scarf for my sweetheart
  • Pom-pom Hat for myself
  • Scarves for just about everyone else I know
Actually, there are about a million more things that I want to make. I love crochet. I love yarn. Life is good.

I am dying to make some clothing, and may be making a tank top sometime in the near future (spring is coming, right? I hope?)...Wish me luck. :D
